Hever Castle, Edenbridge, Kent

IMG_7671[1]We had a lovely day at Hever Castle and Gardens today. Less than an hour away from home on the London/Kent border, Hever Castle is the childhood home of Anne Boleyn. I wrote about Hever in a previous blog as it’s one of our top picks for kids, read it here.

Things to do at Hever Castle

Park for free in the on-site car park. We booked our tickets in advance as you save a little booking online. Under-5s are free so it was a very reasonable day out for us. There are lovely restaurants but it is pricey – £2.80 for a regular cappuccino and my sister paid almost £30 for an adult lunch, a child’s lunch, a portion of chips and three drinks. To avoid this (and to prevent a meltdown from the fussy eater) we took a picnic!

1. Explore the castle

2. Explore the gardens

3. Feed the fish (and the ducks)

4. Go Wild in the Adventure Playground

There is a lot to do at Hever Castle, it is a full, fun day out. Enjoy a pedalo on the lake and look for otters, have a go at archery, watch a jousting contest, get involved in arts and crafts…or just sit in the fragrant rose garden and watch the world go by!

Enjoy! Amy x
